Daily Light on the Daily Path
Evening July 17
Sanctification by the Spirit
Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind! Blow upon my garden, let its spices flow.
For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what punishment!—(for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.
“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.”—God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace.
In a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.
All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.
