Good Books Free (GBF) is a website devoted to making the Bible and other old works available through the web. The Bibles are those made from the received text and in the public domain. The works are generally those of saints who are dead, who lived well, and whose theology is of a reasonably sound quality particularly on the material offered here.
This site is intended to be a help to folks of like mind. The things in here are things that I think other Christians would like in a Bible reference site. With this site, there are two groups I am most interested in helping: my church and my family. I am also interested in seeing this site grow and help people all over. Honestly, I created GBF with me in mind. I want a site that does all the stuff that you find here. I use my own desires as an example of what I think others might like in a an online Bible application. There are three advantages that I think will help to make this good: I have a real desire to do it and enjoy it; I know users of something like this would want (since I am one); I am competent with it. I think those will culminate in an application that may not be most powerful, or fast, but a workhorse that is a real help to people who need it. If you want to see it better or at least better suited to you, please let me know how I can help, but requesting features or changes.
If you are benefited by GBF I am glad to hear it. I want to know how I can help. I will open up comments on the site so folks to tell me how I can make the site better. But I will not open up the site to theological discussions. If it takes a turn toward theology and generally, I reserve the right to, and intend to liberally delete messages that I do not agree with or think will enrich the site’s users. (That is not intended to be threatening or sound small-minded. It is only meant to be honest and to lower readers’ expectations.)
GBF is not a parachurch ministry. And while it is not a program or ministry of my church, it is done with them in mind, as I seek advice and add functionality and features. GBF supports those of a fundamentally Biblical and Calvinistic viewpoint, particularly those with puritanical and historic protestant leanings. I sincerely hope that you find this site a help.
Very Sincerely,
David Eldridge
