Crystallizing the Purpose and Plan of Librex

I will try here to synopsize the goals, documentation, implementation, purpose and intended audience of this (project—Librex—) in this post. This may help to keep expectations real, and focus the efforts of the coming months and years.

Request for Feature Requests

I know there are a couple of you out there that I have been talking to directly (Lisa, Sarah and Joe) about this project. I would like you to use this space to give me some feedback, and request features that you would like to see in upcoming development cycles.

Even if you have not spoken to me about this, I would love to hear what you would like in this site, how it could be better, and what features lack, or could be dropped.

I am not making any guarantees about implementation or timeline. Though I would love to say, yes and right away. We will see what comes. I think I will be surprised by just how little really comes in. (Don’t laugh when you read this post in five years, and see that no one ever posted to it.)

K2 Works Again, Yeehah!

K2 is working again. I am happy to see that it is centered again. That is really all.

Quick Note: K2 and Librex Updates

The Wordpress 2.7.1 broke my K2 theme. Bummer. It just does not look right (left-aligned now, instead of being centered), apparently all is well underneath. I’ll leave it alone, hoping that most people don’t have their chrome set to 1000px+ wide. :(
Librex has a couple of updates (mostly visual): The London Confession is the best among them. I hope you enjoy.

More on the Treasury

I worked on the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (TSK) today. I had the day off from work, a break after a hearty last week. I spent most of the day realizing that there was a lot wrong with the implementation of the TSK. So I had to begin from an earlier copy from years ago. However, I have learned a lot about regular expressions in the mean time and was able to make some quick work of it. It is now up with some links between that, the King James and Geneva Bibles.

Style Overhaul Follows Study Metaphor

Librex is totally different in terms of style. It begins to follow a study metaphor, now. I really enjoyed the early redesign. I just hope it does not become dated too fast.

Try it out. I hope you’ll like it.

There is more styling to come. It is late, and I have to go through later and check and make sure that I did not overlook some big stuff. I have plans for cross references soon.

Librex Looks Awful in IE…

Librex on IE6 (WinXPMCE)

Librex on IE6 (WinXPMCE)

The moral of the story: don’t use IE(6). I know I should be testing in IE6. (Or maybe I don’t know, because I am not doing it, at least not yet.) Look, someone is going to say that is stupid. I can understand why. I can also tell you that it is better to test in a standards-compliant browser and then work backward through the IEs. That is my idea. At some point in the next month or so, I will probably test this and create my clean-up IE stylesheet. Continue reading ‘Librex Looks Awful in IE…’

Screenshots from the iPhone

Librex iPhone Screenshot

I am going to pretend you care to see what the iPhone screenshots look like. Above is the home page. It has special links at top and bottom of the page allowing you to jump to the contents, next and previous chapters.

Beneath is the logo/icon that will drop on your home screen when you make a home screen bookmark.

Hip! Hip! Hooray!

I am happy to report (after years of not knowing how to clean and implement it) that I have finally posted the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge on the librex site. There is more clean up to come, but it is fit for publishing now.
